Well, it’s been a week now.  So far so good.  No signs of skunk.  Seems like “Shake Away” really works.  I’ll need to go back to the store and get another can of it just to keep handy in the garage.  Since I’m getting more “Shake Away for small animals”, I’m going to try “Shake Away for domestic cats”.  I’ve noticed about 5-6 cats in the neighborhood.  Don’t want them pooping on my property.

Yesterday, when unlocking the side gate, I noticed something dug under the gate.  Hmmm….I wondered if it was that darn skunk I saw the other night.  I filled the hole and called Animal Control.  I asked them if they would catch it and set it free somewhere else.  They said that’s the last thing they’ll do.  However they did tell me about a product that is supposed to repel skunks.  It’s called Shake Away.  It has good feedback.  They have repellents for different animals.  The one I got is for small animals (ie. skunk, squirrel, possum, gopher).  They also have repellents for large animals (ie. deer, raccoon), rodents (ie. mice, rats) and even one for domestic cats.  The Animal Control people said I could find it at Ace Hardware or Armstrong.  I got it at Ace for $17.50 (tax incl.).  Apparently it has the scent of the animals’ most feared predator.  The fox.

Well, so far so good.  Today I noticed there wasn’t any signs of digging under the gate and I haven’t seen the skunk…yet.
